State of the Union Address

Dear Readers:

I was watching the State of the Union Address, when I felt I needed to make a change to my blog. President Obama spoke of Big Things (attached the video). I want to make my blog a little more interactive with involvement from students, teachers, and community members. President Obama spoke of how America was proactive and a leader innovation. He spoke of how education needs to change and inspire our youth to make changes and want to achieve new levels of success.

Martin Luther King made his "I have a dream Speech" in 1963 which pertained to civil rights. What I am asking is what dreams do you have as a student, what big things do you want to accomplish, how are you going to make a difference?

We are entering into a new world of education. Yesterday our students had the opportunity to skype with a class from Pennsylvania. I have not had a chance to meet with the students, but heard from several staff members how much they enjoyed the experience. I heard some of the questions about "what are your houses like" and getting to know each other type of events. Our students then used Google Earth to view actual satellite photos of the town where the students resided. Mrs. Gano is looking to collaborate on future classroom projects. The classroom of yesterday is greatly changing.

A blog I follow from Shawn Holloway spoke of how classrooms used to look. Have we changed to meet what education looks like today? Everyone is now connected in brand new ways. We were asked at the tech training yesterday, "How has banking changed?" My first thought was that we can now bank online. We do not need to really ever step foot inside a bank. Then I thought about how my parents did not have access to ATMs, if you did not go to the bank on Friday for cash you went without.

Again I pose the question to you the students, teachers, and community members what Big Things or Dreams do you have for the future of education?

  2. I think we are probably going to have more technical stuff for education.Like soon a lot of schools around the world are going to have one on one laptops.

  3. I hope to see that the future of education is more technology-advanced, and the teachers at schools and Universities make things easier to understand with clearer teaching methods.

  4. I see an increasing use of technology in every class not only with the student but the teachers. This also implies that their will be a decrease in physical tools such as pencil, paper, eraser, etc.

  6. Where I think we will be with our education in the future is with more technology and fun ways for students to learn without even knowing that they are learning something. This way we will be able to have them up to pace and learning with the knowledge they need to know so that they can succeed in what ever they'd like to.

  7. I hope that in the future of education, all schools will have the same academics and they can hopefully be funded enough that there will be opportunities to work with technology one on one.

  8. I hope to see that we don't have to use paper anymore so we don't have to kill trees anymore.

  9. I think we will have different technology. And every school will have a lab top. We will have bigger class rooms, or more kids it the classes.

  10. I think that we will have a lot of laptops and we will be based off of technolgy and will put excitment into classrooms.

  11. I think we will have more and more technology and one on one laptops. I also think more and more books will be dropped due to technology.

  12. I think that everybody should get a Kindle, a Nook, or any other ebook reader so that it would be a lot easier to get books and don't have to spend gas money going to libraries or bookstores.

  13. The future of our education is at a stand still right now with our Iowan government considering to cut preschool and AEA. If these were cut, then who knows about future classes. Many schools are now purchasing items like laptops and iPads to help in the classroom. Something has got to give for future education of children to be a high priority in our government and other governments too.

  14. I can't even imagine the future of education. It will be so much different than today, especially if you look into the distant future. Already, we have laptops and there are Kindles and online textbooks. I am predicting a world of change.

  15. I hope the technology improves over time and all schools will have computers like us. They are still coming out with new things every day to improve our learning abilities.

  16. I think that in the future that every school will have computers. Also that there will probably more technology.

  17. I think that in the future that we stop using paper and just use our computers becasue I think that is what we got them for and we hardly use them at school. I also hope that the teachers get better at technology.

  18. I cant even imagine the education for kids in the future. Its probably going to have more technical stuff like instead of laptops for everyone there is probably going to have Ipads for everyone. There will be a smartboard in every class room including the little kids rooms. The education will be much higher because they will learn things soon than we did.

  19. I think in the future a lot of things will be different. I think that mostly all of the schools will have one on one laptops like we do for further education. I think that all most all of the schools will have at least 5 ipads to help kids read and things like. The last thing that I think that mostly all of the schools will use one on one laptops more then we will textbooks because the laptops have more activities to do on them if the activities are unblocked. In conclusion, I think that all of schools will have ipads and one on one laptops.

  20. I think that the schools should have 1-1 laptops but then again I learned more with the text books. The text books wasted trees that we need to live on.

  21. I can't imagine the future of our technology. Most schools now are getting laptops and iPads. I also think, the education of the kids will be more advanced then us today. There will be more things that you can learn about in the future, with the way the world is going right now.

  22. In the future I feel that we will have more technology. There will still be paper and pencil teaching, but there will also be more computer based things. There will be more computers around the school. More assignments will be on the computer, instead of paper and pencil. There will still be writing and classes like that though.

  23. What I want for the future of education is people should have access to laptops things like ipads, kindles, nooks, etc., but I also want teachers to help more students and keep a better eye on the students weakness and strength so they know what to help the students on.

  24. Wow technology has come a long way from 2000. Instead of writing now we have our own laptops there are ipods, ipads, and kindles. The future technology is going to be very advanced. They are all to help us learn.

  25. I think technology is great for our school. It helps us in some ways and it effects us badly in some ways. One good way is everything we can do on our lab tops but some kids mess around. So I think in the future every student should have a laptop.

  26. Technology is very helpful and creative and it helps with projects and other things you need to be neat on.

  27. I think that in the future almost everything we do will be on the computer or using technology. Textbooks will probably be online or in pdf form. Any papers that are assigned will probably be typed instead of written. Technology will definitely be an important part of future education.

  28. Education will soon be based on technology. Our text books will all be on lap tops or I-pads. We will all probably be reading books off kidles.

  29. Soon every thing we do will eventually be done by technology.

  30. Our future will be technology I think we will be paying out schools more for laptops or Ipads.

  31. I hope that in the future our kids will have the same technology experiences as us and even more experiences. We can already find textbooks on the internet so in the future maybe they will all be on there.

  32. I have enjoyed reading your thoughts about the future. However what are you dreams? If you could recreate the school environment how would it look?

  33. I think that in the future kids will have more technology than we have. There wont be as many people out for sports because of all the technology and new games. Technology is a good thing but it could cause obesity if your on it the whole day. The reason why I say that because kids are going to grow up sitting on the couch eating chip, thats not healthy. I hope the future is a good thing, and not what a lot of people probably expect it to be.

  34. Technology in the future will be use even more than we use it today. They are already start to put book on kindles, ipads, things like that, but technology isn;t always a good thing. People could start getting bigger from being on it to much.

  35. In the future technology will be used even more then now. Already as you can see today their are books on kindles, ipads and other things under that category. Technology has its draw backs though because kids would rather play a game or surf the internet then pick up a ball or play a sport.
