  8. 1.) The objective of my lesson is to reinforce the use of computer probes and graphing software for multiple types of data collection and analysis.
2.) Two opposing Vernier force probes will be used in conjuction with LabPro software to provide an instantaneous graphic display of Newton's Third Law (Action/Reaction).
3.) Students will connect the necessary probes and start the software. Then students will calibrate the probes and assign one an opposite orientation ("negative" force). Student pairs will then try various combinations of applying forces (i.e. both pull equally, only one pull, one pull harder, etc.). The graphic readout produced will instantaneously illustrate that no matter how the forces are applied (as long as they are in the same line), that the two forces are exactly equal in magnitude and opposite in sign.
4.) In addition to static readings (such as could be done with spring scales, this provides students with a real-time,dynamic observation of Newton's 3rd Law. In addition, the graph of force vs. time (made of identical curves that are symmetrical with respect to time)provide a visual connection to the concept.
5.) I learned some additional (and much needed) things about construction of my Google site. At this point (since I currently am using experimenting with various pieces of technology hardware), I feel my best use of time is making as many of my documents (including lesson plans, labs, worksheets, etc.) available online as possible using my Google site. This will also facilitate my goal of moving toward a paperless (or as nearly so as possible) classroom.
6.) Obviously, no matter what stage of technology implementation you are at, you need more time! My present plan is to start posting lesson plans to my Google site at the end of each day and to add digital versions of documents to class folders located there as we use them in class. Thus, over the course of a year or so, I should have all my documents uploaded with a practical amount of time spent.

  10. What are the lesson objectives?
Students will understand the process to create a website.
Students will appropriately communicate to the public about the Ag Ed program's accomplishments and happenings.
2.) What will you teach with the technology?
Students will cooperatively create and obtain a website for the GT FFA through google docs. Eventually, we will start a GT FFA facebook page as well
3.) What are the students doing with the technology?
Students will be informing the public about events, accomplishments etc., the chapter/ag classes have had throughout the year. They will learn how to edit the website, upload pictures, and effectively and appropriately communicate with the general public.
4.) How will this help students learn content at a deeper level?
The students will have a sense of accomplishment for what they have acheived, and applying what they have done and learned to a "real world" situation. It is something for them to take ownership in.
5.) What did you learn today?
That technology is constantly changing and coming up with more and more ways for us to communicate. We as teachers need to be willing to utilize all the different areas and facets of technology. Even if we may not want to integrate all areas of technology, it is good for us to do, because that is the direction our world is heading. We need to provide our students with the technology they use now and will be using once they get into their careers. We need to accept and do what benefits our students the most. Some may not like it, but aren't there times we ask our students to do things they don't like, because in the end it benefits them?
6.) Do you need more time to work on tech integration?
    Yes

  12. 1.Upon completion of this lesson students will have been introduced to quadrilaterals and their properties, have learned terminology using with quadrilaterals, and have practiced creating particular quadrilaterals based on characteristics.
2.I taught characteristics of all quadrilaterals
3.Students will be using the computers to learn about quadrilaterals. ( Browser open to floor tile)
    4. Students will be manipulating the tiles. The students will be moving the sides and corners but the polygon will still remain a quadrilateral. Students will access information about the sides and angles by using the INFORMATION button. This will be followed by " An introduction to Quadrilaterals" activity.
5 I learned how to set up a blog and post on others blogs.
6.For me technological integration will be ongoing.

  13. 1.) What are the lesson objectives?
Because I have recently added a virtual classroom site for Graphic Design, it is something new and the students need to learn how to utilize it.
My objective will be to give students time to orient themselves with the classroom website.

2.) What will you teach with the technology?
I will aide the students in their learning of Adobe Photoshop by accessing the links on the website to use the tutorials.

3.) What are the students doing with the technology?
They are learning about tools and tricks in Adobe Photoshop. That will aide in all of their design processes. It can also help the photography students learn the tools and apply some of the concepts to their photography.

4.) How will this help students learn content at a deeper level?
Each student has access to the same information, however each student can work at their level/pace and have choices about what they learn first, second, etc. Example: On the Graphic Design classroom website the instructor has posted not only the tutorials, but examples with step by step instructions and photos to aide in the process. This particular type of differentiation works well because of the various levels of knowledge each students brings with them to this class. The can activate any prior knowledge they have and move beyond that at their pace.

5.) What did you learn today?
I learned how to create a blog on Google.

6.) Do you need more time to work on tech integration?
always. I do a lot of things from home later in the evening so that I am not interrupted. It's difficult to have that uninterrupted time here at school.

  14. 1) Students will...
Select themes/topics relating to the fall of Rome.
Examine information about their theme/topico and deduce it to an uploadable presentation tool.
Integrate a new form of technology to store and organize information learned in their Social Studies experience.
2)The Goal is to allow the students to personalize and organize their work to be compatable with the SmartBoards and expanding technology. Students will have access to work they have done via Wikispace that may be accessed anywhere at any time.
3)Students are using their wiki's to personalize pages much like they would on facebook or twitter, they may upload pictures, import links instead of printing off information, upload files, and turn in papers online instead of in person. This will also store all of their their work allowing Knights Jam artifact to be the wikispaces page only.
4)Allowing the students to personalize what they are learning will help them orgainize the learned information to become more relevent. This will also allow students to look back on information they learned giving them a deeper understanding.
5)I learned that one must be patient when dealing with technology. Just like the Clip Ayn showed us...amazing things are happening learn to respect it and be dumbfounded. I also liked having the elemntry teachers input during the PBS training!
    6)Yes

  15. 1.) What are the lesson objectives? Students will practice Spanish oral pronunciation and describe a scene in Spanish.
2.) What will you teach with the technology? I will teach students to focus more on their pronunciation and use of descriptive words.
3.) What are the students doing with the technology? Students will use the laptops in the library to access www.audacity.com and will record an oral assignment and email it to me. (Mrs. Alesch will help me administer the assignment in the library and teach the kids to use audacity.com.) I will then listen to the assignments and grade each one giving each student feedback and sharing a few of them with the class.
4.) How will this help students learn content at a deeper level? In the small amount of research that I have done, it has shown that students practice their oral Spanish assignment many times before recording their final draft. I’m guessing that if I asked my students how often they practiced their Spanish pronunciation outside of Spanish class, the amount of time would be next to nothing. We have a lot of classroom discussion, but this gives me an opportunity to work with students on an individual level with pronunciation and understanding.
5.) What did you learn today? I discovered a way to administer oral exams and assignments more efficiently.
6.) Do you need more time to work on tech integration? Yes!! I love finding new ways to integrate technology into my classes!!

  16. 1.) What are the lesson objectives?
Ms. Thoreson's students will learn the voice recording (open source) software Audacity to take an oral Spanish test.

2.) What will you teach with the technology?
    -record a prepared script
    -edit any errors
    -export to desktop/zip drive
    -save as WAV-Microsoft file
    -attach to email
    -send to Ms. Thoreson

3.) What are the students doing with the technology?
Since individual, oral tests are not conducive to the classroom setting, students are taking oral tests in the form of vocal recordings for Ms. Thoreson. The recordings will be emailed to Ms. Thoreson to assess.

4.) How will this help students learn content at a deeper level?
Please see the above response from Ms. Thoreson as she is the content teacher. Students will also be gaining a valuable tool to use in projects across the range of disciplines.

5.) What did you learn today?
I learned that technology is a convenience for some and a scare tactic to others. However, I learned that trial and error are worth the wait and the more persistent I am, the better the results. My website is taking on a new personality and I am excited to present it to the G-T community.

6.) Do you need more time to work on tech integration?
I am fairly tech savvy, but in helping my peers, I believe more tech time is critical to their comfort and success in integrating technology into their curricular areas.

  17. 1. What is the lesson objective? Students will personally experience the responsibilities of parenting a newborn infant, and reflect on personal readiness for parenting.

    2. What will you teach with the technology? I will teach how parenting requires time management, different priorities than that of a teenager, and caring for a newborn.

    3. What are the students doing with the technology? The students will be using Baby Think It Over Parenting Simulators. Each student will be responsible for the "baby" for 24 hours and then will be graded on how well they cared for the baby.

    4. How will this help students learn content at a deeper level? Students will begin to understand that caring for an infant requires a level of committment they have never had to have before.

    5. What did you learn today? Beginning to use more technology in classrooms is a shift in thinking and practice for many teachers including myself. It will require trial and error and practice. And a positive attitude.

    6. Do you need more time to work on tech integration? Yes and it would be nice to know how other teachers in my field are using technology. Maybe a topic for June's Perkins meeting.
